Create a global control search filter
Administrators can create global search filters to help their clients quickly filter through security controls. While any Totem user can create their own control search filter, only administrators can create global control search filters, which are available to all clients within their Totem instance.
- Log in to Totem.
- Navigate to Administration from the top-right menu. Authenticate using your administrator credentials.

- Select Global Filters from the left-hand menu.

- Select Add Global Filter. Fill in the fields according to your preferred search filter preferences. Descriptions of the different fields are below.
- Name: Provide a name for your search filter (e.g., “All CMMC L1 controls”, “MFA controls”, “Totem Top 10”, etc.)
- Search Filter: Using the below list, specify the regex syntax for what you want to filter on.
- Control Fields
- control.control_id – Control ID (e.g., control.control_id:3.1.1)
- control.family – Control family (e.g., control.family”Access Control”)
- control.text – Control requirement text (e.g., control.text:”FIPS”)
- Organization Action Fields
- details – Implementation details (e.g., details:”antivirus”)
- comments – Comments (e.g., comments:”SRM”)
- shared – Shared responsibilities (e.g., shared:”Microsoft”)
- Control Fields
- Control ID: If you want your search filter to exclusively focus on Control IDs, use this field. Add the control IDs, ensuring that are separated by commas (e.g., AC.L1–3.1.1, AC.L1-3.1.2, CM.L2-3.4.2, IA.L2-3.5.3, RA.L2-3.11.1)
- Description: If you want to filter on the Control Description (e.g., “Limit unsuccessful logon attempts.”
- Attachments: The names of any artifacts (attachments) you’d like to include in the search filter (e.g., “ACME-IRP.docx“)

- Save the search filter.
- Navigate to any organization, then go to the Control Status module. Choose Select Saved Filter.

- You’ll then see your new Global Search Filter. To apply it to your current search, select the filter.

- See that your Global Search Filter has been applied.
